Senator Obama voted for approval of the controversial vote over the wire-tap legislation and unsuccessfully tried to strip the immunity for the tel-coms from the bill. He seen it as a compromise vote. John McCain was quick to scream, "Flip-flopper"! It is note-worthy that there were two extremely important bills before the Senate and that John McCain was abscent on both votes. At least Obama voted. He was out talking about Social Security while a vote was being made on restoring funding. "My friend's........." Oh yes, Senator McMindless said, "Young people should not have to play for the benefits of the elderly". How do you imagine Social Security has worked from day one?

Nouri Al-Maliki is attempting to do what Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid couldn't accomplish and set up a time line for a withdrawl of US Forces from that country. This ain't like George with his veto pen in the Oval Office. The Iraqi government is telling us that they wish us to leave. Washington said no to that and stated that any withdrawl would be based on conditions on the ground. Iraq countered stating that it will not sign any pact with the United States that does not set a date for a pull out of US troops. Ok! Let us examine this mess: 1. We invaded a sovreign country that posed absolutely no threat militarily to the United States. 2. We invaded and disposed a dictator who was later executed on the pretense that he had WMD. We all know that was bullshit. 3. GW wanted to spread democracy and the Iraqi's had a free election. One man, one vote. Jefferson and the Founding Fathers would have been very proud. Alas, majority ruled and the Sunni government was replaced by a Shiite one closely aligned with our arch enemy in that region Iran. GW stated, "Aren't they all just Muslims"? Sectarian violence erupted and the country degenerated into a blood bath of religious hatred. Our people were caught in between and the casualties mounted 4. Here comes the Surge. Well, it appears to actually did some good things. Parnership programs with the Sunni Sheiks made a huge differnce in driving back al-Queda. So, along comes stability - the purpose of the surge - And, the Iraqi's are saying - "Go Home". GW say's no. I want you to write your Congressman and Senators and raise holy hell over this.

"Today we are looking at the necessity of terminating foriegn prescense on Iraqi lands and restoring full solvereignty", Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki stated at a conference of Arab nations. However, the Pentagon is telling the Iraqi's that any withdrawl would be based on conditions on the ground. Hey, damn it! Whose nation is Iraq? If the Iraqi's demand a withdrawl that negates Iran as a issue in this coming election and allows Obama to call the GOP as being weak on terrorism as GW ignored Osama Bi-Laden. McCain just stated that, "Victory in Iraq will pay off the deficiet". "I don't much about the ecomony", John McCain. No shit.

The Busg Administration adopted the cruel tactics employed by the Communist North Koreans and Chinese to interrogate Allied POW's. But, just like at the "Hanoi Hilton" (Hoa Loa Prison, Hanoi) these methods produced more false confessions from the POW's. There was a story of a new cataman type carrier that alarmed the North Vietnamese. It was bullshit but it was used by POW's to stop the torment. Well, having covered that - It appears that at GITMO that anything they obtain is viewed as a confession regardless of how it was obtained. The torture issue has yet to hit a US Court and the reprecussions may be severe.
What happens needs to happen and America will be better for it.....
